Retired & Senior Volunteer Program

The Friendship Centers of Emmet County are proud to sponsor the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Charlevoix and Emmet Counties. RSVP is a free program that invites adults age 55 and older to use their life experience and skills to fill vital roles in their communities.

Today's older adults are busy, productive people! After retirement, many RSVP volunteers use their experience to help a variety of local non-profit organizations, agencies, and institutions designated as volunteer stations (see the list of our PARTNER AGENCIES). Our 270+ volunteers assist with a variety of needs including tutoring, budget and tax assistance, environmental surveys, consultancy services, adult basic education, mentoring, senior nutrition programs, hospital volunteer service, intergenerational projects, clerical duties, docent services, and innumerable other opportunities. Our volunteers want to keep active in ways that channel their talents and make a difference for those in need.

As an RSVP volunteer, you'll receive free volunteer placement, the opportunity to use your extensive experience and skills, the chance to learn something new every day, fellowship and camaraderie with other seniors that enjoy the same interests, partial reimbursement for transportation and local expenses, and the satisfaction of knowing you are making a difference.

Getting involved is the key to RSVP. Your volunteerism can make a difference in your community, and you'll get back more than you give. Become an RSVP volunteer today! Call (231) 347-3211 or toll free at (888) 347-0369, ext. 29 or 30, to set up an appointment to discuss your REGISTRATION FORM  and your volunteer preferences.

To learn more about what RSVP is up to, read one of our monthly RSVP NEWSLETTERS!

Current volunteers can print off a Volunteer Hourly Report here. Please mail or deliver page 2 of this hourly sheet to RSVP by the 5th of each month.
