Our Funding

The programs and services of the Friendship Centers of Emmet County touch the lives of thousands of senior citizens each year. Despite the dramatic growth in the population of older adults in northern Michigan, the funding levels have remained essentially the same for years.

The Emmet County Senior Millage currently provides us with almost half of our 1.5 million dollar annual operating budget. Other support comes from federal and state grants, including the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Michigan, the Office of Services to the Aging, and the Michigan Department of Transportation, along with local grants from the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation, United Way and the local Revenue Sharing Board. Client contributions, private donations, and fund-raising events help make up the short fall.

Gifts

Contributions to the Friendship Centers of Emmet County are gratefully accepted to ensure the services that have been appreciated by this generation of senior citizens will be available to enrich the lives of future senior citizens.

Gifts to the Friendship Centers of Emmet County are tax-deductible. Depending on the type of gift, donations can also provide significant tax savings, avoid capital gains taxes, offer income for life through annuity funded with stock or real estate, fund a trust, avoid probate, or ensure the continuance of your favorite program. When considering your planned giving options, please consider donating through any of the following options.

  • Restricted cash donations to support your favorite senior program
  • Memorials
  • Annuities
  • Real Estate
  • Stocks and/or bonds
  • Bequests in wills
  • Life Insurance policies

A donation to the Friendship Centers is an indication of the value placed on our elders and is an affirmation of their significance in our community. Your financial support provides assurance that Emmet County senior citizens will have the opportunities, information and services necessary to live healthy, safe and active lives in dignity.
