Special Board Meeting
A special board meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Petoskey Friendship Center, 1322 Anderson Road. The public is welcome to attend.

Cash Raffle 2017

Ping Pong
Two brand new ping pong tables have been donated to the Petoskey Friendship Center. Come join in the fun and try your hand at ping pong on August 15 at 10 a.m. and August 23 at 1:00 p.m., and August 31 at 1:00 p.m.  Equipment is provided.

Chair Yoga
The Petoskey Friendship Center is hosting a free 30-minute chair yoga class at 2:00 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. The free class, sponsored by McLaren Northern Michigan, is for those age 60 and older. Drop-ins are welcome. Classes this month will be August 2 and August 16.

Free Hearing Test
Free hearing tests will be offered for persons age 55 and older at the Petoskey Friendship Center on Wednesday, August 16 beginning at 9:00 a.m. An audiologist from Petoskey Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists will be conducting the tests. If you have been experiencing hearing loss, make an appointment to get your hearing checked. There is no charge for this service. Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling the Council on Aging at (231) 347-3211 or  toll-free at (888) 347-0369.


Show Us Your Talent

Singers, dancer, magicians, comedians, musicians, poets.... Whatever your talent, we need you for our 3rd Annual Senior Talent Show! We are looking for talented, mature performers age 60 and older to entertain the audience at the FCEC Senior Talent Show at the Petoskey Friendship Center on Thursday, August 17. The show is a lot of fun and no one judges your performances. 3rd Annual Talent Show
Come laugh, cheer, and have a great time at the 3rd Annual Talent Show. Watch a variety of acts on Thursday, August 17. The show begins at 1:00 p.m. and is open to the public. Refreshments will be available.

Keep the Wheels Rolling

A fundraiser for Meals on Wheels is being conducted through the month of August. "Keep the Wheels Rolling" paper display wheels are available for a minimum donation of $2 for blue and $5 for gold at any of FCEC's senior centers in Petoskey, Pellston, and Brutus, as well as at the Harbor Springs Friendship Center and Oleson's Farm Fresh Markets in Petoskey. The wheels will be displayed with your name. All proceeds benefit the FCEC Meals on Wheels program. Donations can also be sent to FCEC Meals, 1322 Anderson Road, Petoskey, MI 49770 or by visiting http://www.emmetcoa.org/donate.

FCEC Theater
Join us for movie and popcorn on Wednesday, August 30 at 1:00 p.m. The Carer, a 2016 comedy-drama, is about Sir Michael Gifford as he alienates everyone him as he suffers from a rare form of Parkinson's Disease and is highly resistant to the comcept of allowing a full-time caregiver into his home. When his daughter brings in a young Hungarian actress, with the desire to make it on stage, to help care for him, surprising changes begin to occur. Movie and popcorn is free to those age 60 and older and their spouses.

Shuffleboard
Come and enjoy the fun at the Petoskey Friendship Center on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. All levels of play are welcome and instructions is available for beginners. Shuffleboard is a great way to stay active and get some fresh air, while enjoying the view of the beautiful Little Traverse Bay.


Mahjong Free beginner lessons will be offered at the Petoskey Friendship Center by instructors Sandy Birdsall and Phillis Blight at 1:00 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, June through September. Space is limited, so please sign up by calling (231) 347-3211, ext. 19.

Winter Weather Policy

If Petoskey Public Schools are closed due to weather, the Petoskey, Pellston, and Huber Centers will be closed and all services will be suspended at all locations. Meals on Wheels will not be delivered on these days.

If Pellston Public Schools are closed due to weather, the Pellston Center will be closed. If Petoskey Schools are open on this day, all other services will be operating as usual.

If either Pellston or Alanson Public Schools are closed due to weather, the Huber (Brutus) Center will be closed. If the Petoskey Schools are open on this day, all other services will be operating as usual.

Save Your Grocery Receipts

We appreciate grocery receipts from Oleson's Markets and D&W Fresh Markets. You may bring receipts into any one of our Centers or mail them to FCEC, 1322 Anderson Road, Petoskey, MI 49770. This is a great way to bring in additional dollars to support our programs.
