Ukulele Group
Friendship Centers of Emmet County is forming a Ukulele Group. The group meets on Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Petoskey Friendship Center. Ukuleles are easy and fun to play! You don't need to know how to read music or have any musical background. Instruction and sheet music will be provided. Please join us. The group is in search of ukuleles - if you have one and are willing to donate or loan it to Friendship Centers, please call (231) 347-3211 and leave a message for Kathy.

Ping Pong
Ping Pong tables will be setup in the Multi-Purpose Room at the Petoskey Friendship Center for play at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2; Thursday, May 3; Wednesday, May 9; Thursday, May 10; Wednesday, May 16; Thursday, May 17; Wednesday, May 23; Thursday, May 24; at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30; and at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31. We hope you will join us for this fun and heart-healthy game. No experience is necessary.

Water Fitness
FCEC offers a water fitness class to older adults at Stafford's Crooked River Lodge in Alanson every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. with instructor Phil Marihugh. Costs for the 45-minute class is $1 per class plus a pool pass. For more information call (231) 347-3211.

Diabetes PATH Workshop
Diabetes PATH (Personal Action Toward Health) Workshop is a free six-session, evidence-based program that empowers people living with diabetes to take an active rold in managing prediabetes or diabetes. Family caregivers are welcome to attend. The next class will take place at the Pellston Friendship Center on Tuesdays, May 8 to June 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Pre-registration is required. Senior Golf Program
If you missed the annual golf meeting but are still interested in joining the FCEC Senior Golf Program for the 2018 season, you can still register at the Petoskey Friendship Center, 1322 Anderson Road. Call Jake or Lynn at (231) 347-3211 if you have any questions. The season starts May 15. Don't miss out!

Golf Raffle
BOYNE Golf has graciously donated a gift certificate for 18-holes of golf with cart for four players (valued up to $420) to raffle off as a fundraiser for FCEC's Meals on Wheels program. Raffle tickets go on sale beginning April 2. The drawing will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Petoskey Friendship Center. Ticket prices are $1 each or $5 for six tickets, and can be purchased at Petoskey, Huber, and Pellston Senior Centers or by calling (231) 347-3211 or (888) 347-0369. The raffle is open to the public and you do not need to be present to win.

Free Hearing Tests
Free hearing tests will be offered for persons age 55 and older at the Petoskey Friendship Center on Wednesday, May 16, beginning at 9:00 a.m. An audiologist from Petoskey Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists will be conducting the tests. If you have been experiencing hearing loss, please get your hearing checked. Appointments are necessary for this free service and can be made by calling the Petoskey Friendship Center at (231) 347-3211 or toll free at (888) 347-0369.

Senior Walking Club
Do you enjoy walking, but don't want to go alone? FCEC's Senior Walking Club will meet on Wednesdays, starting May 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the waterside entrance of the Little Traverse Historical Museum, 100 Depot Street, Petoskey. Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Little Traverse Historical Museum Field Trip
Go back in time and learn about our local history. On Wednesday, May 16 the museum will be opened for our private viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Admission is $2.00 per person, to be paid at the museum. If needed, the bus ride, from and back to the Petoskey Friendship Center, will be provided courtesy of FCEC. Sign up is required; call (231) 347-3211.

Lunchtime Entertainment
On Thursday, May 17, OJ Adkins will entertain the lunch crowd beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Petoskey Friendship Center. The Petoskey Friendship Center also welcomes Rustic Heart to entertain the lunch crowd beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22.

National Older Adult Mental Health Awareness Day
In association with Mental Health Awareness Month, North Country Community Mental Health and FCEC will host a live webcast, designed to raise public awareness about the mental health of older Americans and spur action to address the needs of this population. The broadcast will take place at the Petoskey Friendship Center from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 18. The webinar is available to the public. Light refreshments will be provided. You may bring a sack lunch or purchase lunch from the Petoskey Friendship Center. Card Making Craft
Make homemade greeting cards on Wednesday, May 23 at 10:30 a.m. All materials will be supplied. Sign up at the Petoskey Friendship Center.

Memorial Day
Friendship Centers of Emmet County will be closed on Monday, May 28 in observance of Memorial Day. Please join us for a special luncheon on May 29 at the Petoskey and Pellston Friendship Centers.

FCEC Theater

Come for lunch and stay for a movie on Wednesday, May 30 at 12:45 p.m. at the Petoskey Friendship Center. This month's movie, Testament of Youth, is about an Oxford University student who postpones her studies to serve as a nurse during World War I while her suitor, her brother, and a secret admirer face death in the trenches.

Lunchtime Entertainment
On Thursday, May 31, the Back Porch Pickers will entertain the lunch crowd at the Petoskey Friendship Center beginning at 11:30 a.m.


Bake Sale
Baked goods are needed for our next bake sale on Wednesday, June 6. Donations can be dropped off beginning at 8:30 a.m. The bake sale is open to the public and proceeds benefit services offered by Friendship Centers of Emmet County.

Colonial Michilimackinac Field Trip
Tour Colonial Michilimackinac and learn about life during the American Revolution on Wednesday, June 13. The bus will depart the Petoskey Friendship Center at 9:00 a.m. Upon arrival at the fort, our group accompanied by our Transportation Director, will be welcomed and encouraged to enjoy the grounds and events of the morning. At 1:00 p.m. the group will meet for lunch at the adjacent park prior to departing at 2:00 p.m. Admission is $12.00 per person, payable at the Fort. Transportation is provided courtesy of FCEC, but please pack your own lunch, beverage, and snacks. Sign up by calling the Petoskey Friendship Center at (231) 347-3211.


Detroit Tigers Game Day Trip

A trip to Comerica Park, offered through Good Times Travel N Tours, to watch the Detroit Tigers play the Oakland A's on Monday, June 25. The cost is $119 per person and includes transportation in a private non-smoking motor coach with restroom and reserved seating in lower baseline box. The bus departs Gaylord at 9:00 a.m. For more information contact FCEC's Enrichment Director at (231) 347-3211, ext. 14.

Car Show and Famous Chicken Dinner to Go
Do you have a special car that you would like to have on display during this fundraiser to benefit Friendship Centers of Emmet County? The event takes place on Wednesday, July 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Contact the Enrichment Director at (231) 347-3211, ext. 14 for questions or to be involved. FCEC's famous chicken dinners to go will be available for purchase for $10 a meal. The event will be open to the public and pre-orders for to go meals will be available.

Winter Weather Policy

If Petoskey Public Schools are closed due to weather, the Petoskey, Pellston, and Huber Centers will be closed and all services will be suspended at all locations. Meals on Wheels will not be delivered on these days.

If Pellston Public Schools are closed due to weather, the Pellston Center will be closed. If Petoskey Schools are open on this day, all other services will be operating as usual.

If either Pellston or Alanson Public Schools are closed due to weather, the Huber (Brutus) Center will be closed. If the Petoskey Schools are open on this day, all other services will be operating as usual.

Save Your Grocery Receipts

We appreciate grocery receipts from Oleson's Markets and D&W Fresh Markets. You may bring receipts into any one of our Centers or mail them to FCEC, 1322 Anderson Road, Petoskey, MI 49770. This is a great way to bring in additional dollars to support our programs.

Vial of Life

We feel that the Vial of Life is a most important program for protecting seniors. We are proud to offer Vial of Life decals and forms to the community.

We thank American Senior Safety Agency Medical Alert Systems for donating these decals to our organization.
